Hartford HealthCare is committed to meeting your healthcare needs and treating you with compassion from the bedside to the billing office. We realize that most medical expenses are the result of unexpected illness or accidents and are difficult to budget for.

 

We offer several ways to help you pay for care:

Our experts can explain the billing process, payment plan options and help detemine if you are eligible for one of our many financial assistance programs.

Insurance Eligibility
Assessment

You may be eligible for government assitance and not even know it. We offer evaluations to determine if you qualify for programs such as Medicaid, Medicare or others.

Financial
Assistance

If you qualify, we offer discounts and even grants to pay for care. Once we understand your situation, we will match you with a program that best meets your needs.

 

How to apply for Financial Assistance

How to apply

  1. If you need help paying for care, ask for an application at the registration desk, from a social worker, your provider or the patient accounting office. 

  2. Complete the required applications and provide necessary documentation. For a 30-day hold on your account while applying, call 877.442.2455.

  3. A financial coordinator will evaluate your financial situation, including income, household size, medical expenses and special circumstances to determine eligibility. You will be notified of the decision within 15 business days.

Tips for ensuring a quick and timely review of your financial assistance application

 

Hospital Donated Funds 

If you show financial need and are approved for assistance, you may be eligible to receive bed funds to help cover the cost of necessary healthcare services at Hartford HealthCare.

Eligibility criteria for this assistance may include:

  • Your place of residence
  • Your age or gender
  • Your affiliation with a specific company

Financial assistance does not cover:

  • Non-medically necessary services, such as cosmetic procedures
  • Residential services
  • Other services deemed non-medically necessary on a case-by-case basis

Services and Providers that Qualify for Financial Assistance

Services at all Hartford HealthCare hospitals may qualify for financial assistance. In addition, you may receive assistance if you get your care from certain providers.

Cost and Quality

If you have an upcoming procedure or diagnostic service that has been scheduled at one of our hospitals, you may request further information about our cost and quality. An estimate of what the allowable amount is for your scheduled service can be provided to you within 3 business days.
