Platelet-Rich Plasma

Sports Health: Platelet-Rich Plasma

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an emerging therapy being used to heal chronic injuries including chronic tendonitis/tendinosis.

PRP uses a patient’s own blood that has been drawn and spun with a centrifuge system to obtain a platelet-rich component that is injected at the site of injury.

Platelets have many growth factors that aid in healing.
