Installing Zoom on a Desktop or Laptop Computer

This video describes how to download Zoom onto your desktop or laptop computer in preparation for your virtual video visit.

    As soon as possible please download ZOOM  to your computer. There is no need to download MyChart as you will be accessing this from your computer’s browser at the time of the visit.

    1. On your device, go to the Internet (using a web browser such as Safari , Google Chrome , or Internet Explorer  ) and type https://ZOOM.us/download into the browser’s address bar.
    2. Click on the blue Download button for ZOOM for Client Meetings

    3. Click on the Run button to install Zoom on your computer.

    • An internet connection – broadband wired or wireless (3G or 4G/LTE)
    • Speakers and a microphone – built-in or USB plug-in or wireless Bluetooth
    • A webcam or HD webcam - built-in or USB plug-in
    • Or, a HD cam or HD camcorder with video capture card

    Testing Your Device


    This video describes how to test Zoom on your desktop or laptop computer in preparation for your virtual video visit.

    1. On your device, go to the Internet (using a web browser such as Safari  or Google Chrome  ) and type https://ZOOM.us/test into the browser address bar.

    2. Click the blue “Join” button. 

    3. You will be brought to the Audio setup page for Zoom.

    4. Click on “Test Speaker” – you should hear tones from your speakers. You can adjust the volume with the slider bar. Make sure your speakers are not muted. Click on Stop.

    5. Below the test speaker section, click on the “Test Mic” button.  This will record your voice – say anything you would like for a few seconds. When done click on “Recording” to stop the recording and you will hear you voice played back to you. You can adjust the microphone volume using the slider or you can click the box labeled “Automatically adjust microphone volume” to have the computer do this automatically (suggested).

    1. Select ^ to right of the microphone icon (bottom left)

    2. Select Audio Settings

    3. Audio

    4. Test Speaker (follow instructions)

    5. Test Mic (follow instructions)

    If you are able to see yourself via your camera your video is working correctly and you should be set for your video visit.

    If you do not see the image, try the following:

    1. Click on the ^ to the right of the video icon (bottom left)” and make sure the correct camera is selected. If you are still having trouble you can go into Video Settings and click on the link for the Zoom Help Page.

    2. If camera is external make sure the webcam is plugged in and
      turned on.

    3. Try a different USB Port.

    4. Restart the computer
