How Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network is using telehealth to treat patients.
Our Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Language Pathologists are able to treat most diagnoses and or conditions virtually.
Conditions we offer services for through telehealth include:
- Pelvic Health conditions
- Low back pain and sciatica
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Chronic pain
- Headaches
- Pre and post-op mastectomy
- Neurological conditions (Parkinson’s, MS)
- Distal radius fractures
- Medial and lateral epicondylitis (Tennis or Golfers Elbow)
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Hand, wrist, and elbow pain
- Aphasia
- Swallowing difficulties
- Speech difficulties
How it works:
We will send you a video link through our Epic electronic medical records system to your MyChart account or to your email address. You join the video visit using your mobile device or computer at the scheduled time of the visit. Our team will assist with setting up your device and provide instructions to you through your MyChart account.
How to get started:
Ask your healthcare provider if you are a good candidate to receive rehabilitation services virtually. If you have health concerns that prevent you from attending your healthcare appointments in person or you would rather be seen from home, discuss telehealth services with your healthcare provider. If you are currently receiving rehabilitation services at Hartford HealthCare, ask your therapist if you can receive your services virtually.
Are these services covered by insurance?
While each insurance plan has some differences, many have added physical, occupational and speech therapy services to the allowable telehealth providers. This means that when there is a need for skilled therapy, many payers will pay for the services provided through telehealth video visits. It is best to check with your insurance to verify or call our staff to help answer your questions.
How challenging is it to connect to this telehealth platform?
HHCRN has worked to simplify the process allowing our patients to click on a link on their own devices and connect with our therapists. We will provide easy to follow instructions and test the process with you before your visits.
