If you have a cataract, imagine a surgical solution utilizing a special tri-focal lens that provides a full range of vision – a lens that can enhance both near and far vision. It’s called the Panoptix multi-focal lens.

Dr. Alan Solinsky of the Hartford Hospital Eye Surgery Center in Newington is one of the first ophthalmic surgeons in Connecticut to introduce this new lens.

Q. I understand the Panoptix lens was recently approved by the F-D-A…tell us how this new lens is helping patients see more clearly?

A. The Panoptix multi-focal lens has been helping patients see more clearly at a wide range of vision in over 70 countries for more than four years. 99% of people are very happy with their ability to see with less dependence on glasses at distance to drive, at intermediate to use the computer and at near to read.

Q. Tell us about the procedure for this type of cataract surgery at the Hartford Hospital Eye Surgery Center?

A. We use LenSx laser assisted cataract surgery and the ORA/Verifeye instrument to ensure that our patients have the most precise and accurate vision possible.

Q. Who is the ideal candidate to receive the Panoptix lens?

A. Most people with cataracts are ideal candidates as long as they don't have any serious eye diseases.

Q. Are there any side effects?

A. Occasionally people will have some glare or halos around lights, but 99% of people say they would still choose the panoptix lens again and recommend it to others.

Dr. Solinsky's group provides medical and surgical eye care for adults and children.
