Dr. Ward came to Hartford HealthCare from Intermountain Medical Center in Utah, where she was an epileptologist in the Neurosciences Department. Her areas of clinical interest include refractory epilepsy; neuromodulation of epilepsy; dietary therapy and medical cannabis to assist medical therapy; and psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES).

Dr. Ward is a graduate of Mt. Allison University in Canada, and earned her medical degree from the University of Kansas. She completed an internship in internal medicine and a residency in neurology at Northwestern University’s McGaw Medical Center. She also completed a fellowship in epilepsy at the University of Michigan.

Board-certified in epilepsy and neurology, Dr. Ward has an impressive research resume, including studies into the effect of neurostimulation implants on epilepsy, and seizures as a predictor of brain tumor progression. She has also given presentations and written guidance for providers on the use of medical cannabis with patients who have epilepsy.

Dr. Ward is a member of the American Epilepsy Society, American Academy of Neurology and American Clinical Neurophysiology Society.
