What happened:

While performing hourly rounding, Kate noticed that a patient had different complaints than the day before and notified the team lead. Nursing determined that the patient had removed her oxygen. The nasal cannula was reapplied and the patient quickly became more comfortable.

Safety behaviors demonstrated:

Kate demonstrated Attention to Detail, STAR and Mentor-and-Coach behaviors. She ARCC’d her concerns up the chain of command by quickly alerting nursing. Her “in-the-moment” action helped ensure the patient’s safety.
