What happened:

Dan was changing the wastebasket liner in the room of a patient who had been on the floor for several days. He greeted the individual and realized the patient was having a seizure. He immediately alerted nursing staff, which was able to provide needed care quickly. Dan understood that patient safety – a core value – is everyone’s job.

Safety behaviors demonstrated:

Dan demonstrated many safety behaviors, including attention to detail and the use of STAR. He was quick to notice the patient condition, then stopped the line and escalated his concern.
