What happened:

At check-in, a patient said that she spoke, “a little English,” so no interpreter was requested. However, while assigning this patient to a bed, Diane realized that the patient spoke Spanish and almost no English. Diane got the interpretive services needed to explain the medical treatment to the individual.

Safety behaviors demonstrated:

Diane stopped the line and ARRC’d up the issue, ensuring clear communication between the medical team and the patient.
