What happened:

A patient called Judith from an airport and reported suicidal thoughts and plans to act on those thoughts and feelings. Judith engaged with the patient and kept her on the phone while simultaneously communicating with the clinical manager, who contacted airport and Torrington law enforcement. Police pinged the patient’s phone to confirm she was at the airport. She was found passed out at the airport and was taken to a local emergency department. Later, the patient contacted Judith to let her know that she was OK and was receiving inpatient care at a facility.

Judith showed careful attention to detail and followed STAR (Stop-Act-Think-Review) behaviors, providing fast care to a needy patient under unusual circumstances.
