What happened:

When Alicia arrived at her homecare visit, she discovered that her client had been left alone by her daughter, who is the primary caregiver. This was unsafe because the patient is cognitively and physically impaired and dependent for personal care needs. Alicia immediately notified her team manager and an LPN was sent to secure the patient’s safety.

 

Safety behaviors demonstrated:

Alicia knew that the patient was at risk while home alone and demonstrated the CHAMP behaviors – communicate clearly, attention to detail, and practice a questioning attitude.
