Good Catch Champion: Nairobi Campo

June 13, 2022

Nairobi Campo

Registered Nurse

St. Vincent’s Medical Center

What happened:

While working with an oncology patient, Nairobi noticed the treatment plan called for the administration of Yervoy with every chemotherapy cycle. Yervoy is an immunotherapy drug used in tandem with chemotherapy. However, Nairobi remembered from a previous conversation that the patient was supposed to receive Yervoy every other cycle.

Nairobi was right. She called the pharmacy to double-check and it was confirmed that the treatment plan was incorrect.

Safety behaviors demonstrated:

Nairobi practiced a questioning attitude when she thought the treatment plan was wrong. By stopping the line, Nairobi ensured that the patient received the correct treatment.
