Patients at the Wound Care Center have access to the latest proven methods of healing wounds. Each patient is evaluated and assessed, with an individual treatment plan created to best meet their specific needs.
Each patient’s goals for treatment as well as their physical and emotional needs are different. Considering their uniqueness helps us create the most effective treatment plan for them.
Our services fall under two categories of care. They are:
Comprehensive problem wound care, which includes:
- Compression therapy with special wraps to promote healing
- Negative pressure therapy using a device called a “wound vac”
- Synthetic skin grafts to promote skin growth during healing
- Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
- Special dressings that may contain healing medications or fibers
- Debridement, or the cleaning out of unhealthy tissue
Advanced surgical podiatric care, which includes:
- Treatment of diabetic or complex wounds of the food and ankle
- Collaboration with orthotists specializing in fitting patients with helpful devices to determine the most appropriate footwear and the use of special devices to take pressure off the wound
About 15% of patients seeking care for a problem wound are candidates for hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This treatment includes two hours a day in the chamber, where the oxygen level is adjusted to be up to three times greater than the atmospheric pressure.
