Program provides training and job opportunities to teens and computers to the community

April 19, 2024

Where do Hartford HealthCare’s old computers go to die? They don’t!

Instead, HHC donates worn computers to a city partnership, Digital DividEND, that teaches students technical skills through refurbishing the machines and then donating them to community members in need.

This week, HHC and our partners, including the City of Hartford and the youth development organization Our Piece of the Pie, celebrated the distribution of another round of refurbished laptops, desktops and tablets.

In addition to giving computers to senior citizens and first-generation college students, the program provides vocational training to students who participate in the Hartford Youth Service Corps. When they complete the program, the students are eligible for internships with HHC’s ITS department.
