The Chase Family Movement Disorders Center is dedicated to educating the community through outreach education programs and support groups.

Wellness Classes are offered in the Cheshire, Vernon and Mystic locations at no charge to patients of the Chase Family Movement Disorders Center. Integrative Medicine Wellness Programs

Description: Research has shown that integrative therapies may help to decrease anxiety, strengthen the immune system, reduce pain and accelerate healing.

Cheshire Wellness Programs

Fit to Move
If you have not exercised in a while, or are looking for a moderate workout, this class is for you. Stretching, cardio and weights are combined in this class designed just for people who choose less intensity but a full-body workout in chairs. Free with registration.

Boxing & Functional Interval Training
Beat Parkinson’s Today is an exercise program that may improve the quality of life of people with movement disorders by performing exercises that encourage brain activation, challenge balance and stability and are functional to everyday living. Free with registration. May require screening for appropriate class.

Tai Chi & Qi Gong
Calm your mind and energize your body with the deep breathing and slow, flowing movements of these ancient Chinese healing exercises. Learn simple, gentle exercises everyone can do either sitting or standing. May reduce pain and stiffness, increase balance, coordination, strength and flexibility and improve sleep, boost immune function, and improve overall health. Free with registration.

Yoga
Yoga is a complementary therapy for Parkinson’s disease that helps to increase flexibility, improves posture and is relaxing and restorative. Yoga has been shown to visibly reduce tremors and improve the steadiness of gait. Modifications are made to accommodate ability levels. Free with registration.
