Don’t wait to seek emergency care

What if someone I know has a real medical emergency, like a heart attack or stroke?Never delay emergency care — your life could depend on it.

Don’t ignore signs of a heart attack, stroke, cancer or other serious medical conditions. Hartford HealthCare's nine emergency departments are ready to help you, safely and promptly, with dedicated areas for non-COVID patients.

In an emergency, get to the ER quickly, or call 911.

When you arrive at any of Hartford HealthCare’s nine emergency departments, you can be assured that we have taken all necessary precautions:

  • All patients are screened for COVID-19 symptoms. Patients who are suspected of having the coronavirus are cared for in special areas of the ER to separate them from other patients.
  • You will be provided a mask.
  • Your exam room will have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected according to all state and federal guidelines.
  • Special cleaning is conducted 24 hours per day on high-touch surfaces such as hand rails, door handles, and other such areas.
  • Social distancing has been implemented in waiting rooms.
  • Chairs are disinfected in between patients.
  • All staff’s temperatures are taken daily and respiratory symptoms monitored.
  • Visitation is limited in order to protect patients and staff.

Hartford HealthCare's nine emergency departments, which include trauma and LIFE STAR helicopter services, treat patients with conditions ranging from major trauma, heart attacks and stroke to less serious health conditions. Don’t hesitate to seek the care you need, when you need it, around the clock.

In addition to our emergency departments, we provide safety for all, at all Hartford HealthCare sites:

  • Employees are screened for symptoms and undergo temperature checks each time they enter our facilities, and are tested as appropriate. Masks at work are mandatory.
  • Hospitalized patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 are cared for safely in medical units and ICUs.
  • We continue to limit visitation to prevent the spread of the virus.
  • When visitors are permitted, they are required to wear a mask, which we gladly provide.
  • Facilities are frequently cleaned and disinfected under our enhanced and extensive cleaning schedule that uses highly effective, environmentally responsible cleaning supplies.
  • Our 30,000 Hartford HealthCare colleagues stand together, safely providing care and protecting your health and well-being.
