The Institute of Living is hosting the annual Behavioral Health Network (BHN) World Suicide Prevention Day Conference for healthcare providers, mental health advocates, community members and students. This FREE event features:

8:30am: Community presentation by Sgt. Kevin Briggs, former California Highway Patrolman who spent years patrolling the Golden Gate Bridge, often encountering individuals who had lost hope and were contemplating suicide.

10:15am: Suicide prevention panel featuring Sgt. Briggs; Michael Hogan, PhD, architect of the Zero Suicide initiative; Andrea Duarte, LCSW, MPH, of the CT Suicide Advisory Board; John Santopietro, MD, DFAPA, BHN physician-in-chief; and other behavioral health experts

11:30am: Flag lowering ceremony outside of Hartford Hospital honoring those who have lost their lives to suicide.

12pm: Poster presentation highlighting the accomplishments of the BHN Zero Suicide implementation team, including system-wide changes to standard work in suicide assessment, care transitions, and operational processes.
