The Provider Leadership Development Institute (PLDI) at Hartford HealthCare is a nine month program that provides advanced leadership skills and education to select providers practicing in the HHC system.

The program is designed for providers who have the desire to explore leadership as a career path or those who are already in a leadership position, but would like to further develop their skills and relationships.  At its core are the H3W Leadership Behaviors. These are woven throughout our curriculum as they are the cornerstone of our HHC culture.

The curriculum and syllabus for the PLDI were created based on evidence and best practice research to support six core provider leadership competencies:

  • Management Skills (operations, finance, IT software)
  • Strategic Planning (inclusion, teams, relationships)
  • Knowledge of Healthcare (reimbursement, legislation, quality assessment, management)
  • Problem Solving (project management, lean)
  • Emotional Intelligence (assessment, feedback, leadership behaviors, coaching)
  • Communication (resilience, agility, influence, change)

This PLDI group will work with HHC Senior Executives, VPMAs and other C-suite industry leaders over the nine months. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet with the HHC Executive Leaders in a small group setting to ask questions and interact in conversations about the changing environment of healthcare.

Watch this three minute video to see PLDI in action.
