Bio
Gary Tansino, MD, PhD, is a medical oncologist/hematologist in practice for 30 years. He has been medical director of the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute and director of the diagnostic medical laboratory at MidState Medical Center for 25 years.
He earned his doctorate at the State University of New York/Buffalo and his medical degree from the State University of New York/Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. He completed his internship and residency at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, and then a fellowship in medical oncology at Yale University School of Medicine.
Board certified in medical oncology and internal medicine, Dr. Tansino has done extensive research throughout his career, including pharmaceutical trials focusing on lung cancer, skeletal metastasis, pancreatic cancer, melanoma, prostate cancer and breast cancer. He has published research in such peer-reviewed publications as Infection Control and Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy.
