Tom performed his undergraduate training at Quinnipiac University where he graduated magna cum laude in 2006. Upon completion of this degree he received his MHS in physician assistant studies from Quinnipiac in 2008. After graduation Tom worked as a physician assistant in the emergency department at The Hospital of Central Connecticut from 2008 to 2013.

He then transitioned to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he worked as an orthopaedic surgery physician assistant from 2013 to 2017. From there he joined the Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute as lead physician assistant in June 2017.

Tom continued to expand his medical and business training by completing his MBA in healthcare management from Quinnipiac in May 2018. He was later named Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Clinical Manager at the Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute in August 2018.
