Nurses do so much in their promotion of health and prevention, their care of the physically and mentally ill and their advocacy for patients and families that it deserves an entire week each year to recognize and celebrate their work. Nurses Week begins May 6, timed to end on Florence Nightingale’s birthday (May 12). “America’s nurses,” says President Obama, "are the beating heart of our medical system.” This is especially true for the 3,388 nurses at Hartford HealthCare -- including Milagros Cruz, above, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut -- who play such a vital role in patient care.
"We recognize our nurses for their outstanding expertise, skill and compassion," says Dr. Stuart Markowitz, president of the Hartford Region, "and the sacrifices they make every day to provide the best possible care to our patients and their families."
We're seeking more nurses with the ability and desire to provide extraordinary patient care.
