Hartford HealthCare and UnitedHealthcare have established a new multi-year network relationship, giving people enrolled in UnitedHealthcare individual, Medicare, and employer-sponsored plans, including Oxford-branded plans, in-network access to all Hartford HealthCare facilities and providers participating through Integrated Care Partners. The agreement means there is no interruption in coverage for patients with UnitedHealthcare plans, including Oxford-branded plans.
The agreement includes an accountable care plan, in which Hartford HealthCare and UnitedHealthcare will work together to increase patient value and improve quality. Performance-based metrics are designed to reward Hartford HealthCare and its physicians for the quality of care delivered and patient satisfaction, while better managing medical costs.
“We are pleased to have been able to work collaboratively with UnitedHealthcare to arrive at this truly patient-centered agreement,” said Jeffrey Flaks, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Hartford HealthCare. “More than ever, ensuring sustainable health care delivery requires a partnership between providers and insurers, and Hartford HealthCare is proud of this renewed relationship with UnitedHealthcare. Working together, we seek to continue to improve access and make health care more affordable.”
“Hartford HealthCare is a leading provider of health care services in Connecticut through its broad network of hospitals, ancillary facilities and physicians, and this new relationship lays the foundation for future collaboration on health issues that matter to our plan participants,” said Stephen Farrell, CEO, UnitedHealthcare of New England. “We are pleased that individuals and families in Connecticut will continue to have local access to critical health services.”
Hartford HealthCare serves patients in more than 100 cities and towns in Connecticut, and employs more than 18,000. UnitedHealthcare serves more than 475,000 people in Connecticut enrolled in individual, employer-sponsored and Medicare health plans.
