By Hartford HealthCare
It is our vision to create a single, consistently excellent patient experience across Hartford HealthCare (HHC). This is our promise to our patients and families. We want to be their choice for all of their health care needs. To do that, we need to further integrate key services and ensure that we are using and sharing best practices across our system.
We have made tremendous headway so far. In order to accelerate this progress, we have created the position of senior vice president for operational integration for Hartford HealthCare. And we have found a proven leader to take on this vital role: Bimal Patel, regional vice president of operations for Hartford Hospital.
In this new role, Bimal will work to optimize a range of services across our system, including: Pharmacy; Lab; Radiology; Real Estate, Facilities and Construction; Engineering; Environmental Services; Transport; Public Safety; Food Services; Linen Services; and Emergency and Disaster Management. To do this, he will collaborate with regional presidents, the HHC Executive Leadership Team and functional vice presidents as well as regional leaders.
Bimal has demonstrated our HHC values and has an extraordinary track record at Hartford Hospital, which he joined in 2009. He has been the system project-management executive leading our successful HHC Thrive initiative. He was instrumental in the development of a 20-year master plan and completed 400,000 square feet of upgrades to the hospital on time and on budget. Under his leadership, Hartford Hospital built the 1,250-space employee garage on Hudson Street, and he has overseen the planning and design for the $150-million Bone and Joint Institute.
Before coming to Hartford Hospital, Bimal led Professional and Support Services for Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Penn., where he also was administrative director of pharmacy services. He held various positions with Owen Healthcare – now Cardinal Health. He has a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from L.M. College of Pharmacy, which is affiliated with Gujarat University in Ahmedabad, India, and a Master of Health Administration from Pennsylvania State University.
Bimal will begin his new duties in December. He will report to me. He will be located at the System Support Office at One State Street. We expect to name his replacement at Hartford Hospital in the coming days.
