Dr. Premkumar is currently the President of Hartford Healthcare Medical Group and President of Integrated Care Partners. Over the years, he has held several positions with an inclination towards patient quality and operational excellence. Most recently, his journey has also led him to become the first physician leader within Revenue Cycle at Hartford Healthcare.  

Originally from Toronto, ON Canada, Dr. Premkumar graduated from the University of Toronto with an undergraduate degree in Cell and Molecular biology. He subsequently received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. He moved to Hartford CT in 2010, where he began his Internal Medicine Residency training at Hartford Hospital through the University of Connecticut (UCONN). He went on to complete his Chief Residency at the University of Connecticut in 2014, serving in that role at the Newington Veterans Administration Clinic. 

Dr. Premkumar joined the teaching faculty in the Department of Medicine at Hartford Hospital in 2014. He is a practicing Academic Hospitalist and spent a few years as a primary care attending at the Hartford Hospital Community Ambulatory Clinic. He subsequently became Site Director and Associate Program Director for the internal medical training program at Hartford hospital through UCONN. His passion for medical education allowed him to carry on that role for 7 years including becoming Assistant Professor at UCONN. His time at Hartford Hospital saw him assume the role of Medical Director for Clinical Documentation and Coding. His subsequent interest in Revenue Cycle allowed him to eventually become Vice President of Revenue Cycle for Hartford Healthcare.
