Bimal Patel is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Hartford HealthCare.
In his previous role, Bimal Patel served as the president of Hartford Hospital and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, and senior vice president of Hartford HealthCare (HHC). He is a proven visionary, positively transforming care and operations at Hartford Hospital, an 867-bed tertiary care medical center that maintains a close academic affiliation with the University of Connecticut, and Charlotte Hungerford, a 122-bed community hospital.
He was recently recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review on the 2023 list of “Academic Medical Center CEOs to Know,” which honors industry trailblazers for their dedication to optimizing healthcare through patient experience. He was also named to the Hartford Business Journal’s 2022 “Power 25 in Healthcare.” Under his leadership, both hospitals have earned “A” Safety Grades from Leapfrog. Hartford Hospital has been recognized as one of America’s 50 best hospitals for cardiac surgery and a Top 100 teaching hospital by Healthgrades; as well as named a top metro hospital by US News & World Report. Hartford Hospital was also named New England’s first and only Comprehensive Cardiac Center by the Joint Commission and received a perfect score in cardiac surgery from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from L.M. College of Pharmacy, which is affiliated with Gujarat University in Ahmedabad, India; and he holds a Master’s degree in healthcare administration from Pennsylvania State University.
Mr. Patel currently serves on the boards of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford and MetroHartford Alliance. Previously, he served on the boards of SINA (Hartford’s Southside Institutions Neighborhood Alliance) from 2009 to 2015, Achieve Hartford from 2014 to 2023 and the United Way Board, where he chaired the 2018 United Way capital campaign for Central and Northeastern Connecticut.
