Zika virus disease (Zika) is a disease caused by Zika virus that is spread to people primarily through the bite of an infected Aedes species mosquito. Its emergence is under scrutiny due to a high incidence of microcephaly in babies of mothers who had Zika virus while pregnant, mainly in Central and South America.
